Having survived World War II unscathed, it has retained its charming Medieval character. Wherever they go, visitors get a taste of Lüneburg's eventful history, as it rose to become one of the most important places in the Hanseatic League through its salt production.Lüneburg is a North German town where famous classical music composer  J.S. Bach attended school. And do not miss an opportunity to exchange ideas in Lüneburg´s oldest pub founded by the ancestors of a well-known German sociologist and a prominent thinker in systems theory, Niklas Luhmann.
